The database of smart controllers tested for water efficiency is growing. Product test reports on three additional controllers have been posted to the Smart Water Application Technologies section of the Irrigation Association website. Test data is now available for products from ETWater, Toro, Irritrol and Weather Trak. Product test are conducted by the Center for Irrigation Technology on behalf of SWAT, a consortium of water purveyors and irrigation industry leaders. SWAT (Smart Water Application Technology) was established to test and promote efficient irrigation technology.
A proposal to amend the controller test protocols has been posted on the IA website for comment. The new section, 4.6 Test Duration, would extend the 30-day testing period if necessary to provide an opportunity to observe the controller?EUR??,,????'???s response to varying weather conditions. Comment using the electronic form alongside the document.
The SWAT program is featured in an article in the Journal of the American Water Works Association. The article details the history and goals of SWAT, which began with a meeting between water providers and irrigation industry leaders at the International Irrigation Show in 2002.
