The Florida Irrigation Society and Lee County University of Florida IFAS Extension host irrigation sessions in Fort Myers, Florida. Three courses over a two-day period will teach attendees principles of operation and management of irrigation systems; water conservation and the irrigation industry; as well as rules, regulations and ordinances. CEUs will also be provided.
Thursday, April 19th, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
Introduction to Landscape Irrigation Maintenance in Florida This course is an introduction to the principles of operation and management of irrigation systems, specifically as applied to operating costs and water efficiency. The course will cover basic irrigation components, obtaining site information, underground piping systems, sprinkler performance, control systems, operating and maintenance procedures, irrigation codes and standards and smart technology.
The registration fee is $100.00 per attendee for members and $135.00 for non-members.
Friday, April 20th, 8:00 am – 12:00 pm
Technology and Practices for Water Conservation in Landscape Irrigation Increasing emphasis on water conservation has challenged the irrigation industry to design, install and manage irrigation systems more efficiently. This course will assist in teaching the industry the most efficient methods to use less water when irrigating plant material. Course topics to include water conservation control systems, distribution, sensors, and pressure management and regulation. The registration fee is $50.00 per attendee for members and $75.00 for non-members.

Landscape Irrigation Rules and Regulations Due to water conservation efforts the State of Florida and local municipalities have adopted new rules and codes to regulate the design, installation and management of landscape irrigation systems. This course will cover an introduction to rules and regulations, local ordinances, regional rules and regulations, State rules and regulations, and national rules and regulations. The registration fee is $50.00 per attendee for members and $75.00 for non-members.
