The Irrigation Association Education Foundation (IAEF) continues to make outstanding progress in its goals to promote irrigation education to universities and colleges throughout the United States. Toward that end, the IAEF held its first Faculty Academy August 7-9, at the Purdue University Extension facility in Indianapolis. The event attracted 17 university and junior college instructors from across the United States. Academy staff included Dennis McKernan, IA education director, Kelly Benedetti, IAEF manager, and IAEF Board of Trustees members Brian Vinchesi and Lynda Wightman. The purpose of the IAEF Irrigation Faculty Academy was to educate faculty on basic concepts, create awareness of the IAEF, and provide a review of numerous IA educational resources. IAEF also solicited feedback from the attendees to improve the development of its educational programs and build relationships with the faculty members. The academy was extremely well received. Based on the positive feedback, it will likely be an annual event for the IAEF. For more information on the IAEF, contact Kelly Benedetti at the IA headquarters: (703) 536-7080.
