Ohio State University landscape architecture students will work with Peruvian architectural students on a master plan for Ancon, Peru (pictured). Ancon, 22 miles north of Lima by train, is an important archaeological site. The land here is arid and barren.

Thirteen architecture students and two faculty members from the Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas in Lima, Peru arrived at Ohio State University to participate in a four-week studio exchange program with students in the landscape architecture program.

Groups of four or five students will be working to create a master plan for redevelopment of the small coastal town of Ancon, a suburb of Lima. The Peruvian architecture students will work on designing the buildings, and the landscape architecture students will design the plazas, parks and walkways for the plan. Landscape architecture students have not worked with architecture students at OSU in the past.

Charles Leider, professor and director of the OSU landscape architecture program, notes this is the only landscape architecture exchange program with a South American university. The exchange between the two universities began in February 1997.
