Integra Planning + Landscape Architecture, Santa Rosa, California

Firms of Northern California
by Staff

Founded in 2018, Principal Landscape Architects Ric Hendricks and Michael Cook launched their shared vision of the ideal planning and landscape architecture firm. Integra Planning + Landscape Architecture (INTEGRA+) collaborates with homeowners, developers, businesses, institutions, and municipalities throughout California to transform their sites into innovative, functional, sustainable, and inspiring outdoor spaces. Their experience spans over four decades and a wide range of projects, including retail, hospitality, streetscapes, downtown master plans, urban and rural parks, educational facilities, single-family estates, mixed-use spaces, high-density and single-family residential developments, wineries, and commercial facilities. As planners and landscape architects, our utmost important characteristic is THOUGHTFULNESS.

INTEGRA+ provided a complete array of planning, landscape architecture, and owner representation services for upgrades to the iconic winery.
Michael took the lead on the project, from hiring the complete consultant team to providing pre-development services for the entitlement process. He designed the hospitality center and tasting room, a new water system for the facility, and provided civil engineering and landscape architecture for the site improvements, including all processing required by the county of Napa.
The highlights of this project include a new landmark building called the Hospitality Center, a decorative concrete paving entry, a rear patio with rock wall accents, a gourmet chef's kitchen, and a private entertainment room with a fireplace and private patio. Native, drought-tolerant landscaping was installed to complement the gorgeous facility.

Blufftop Residence, Bolinas, CA

Above: A streamlined remodel with a sense of place, this beach house overlooks the Pacific Ocean and Stinson Beach. Located on the top of "The Bluff" in Bolinas, our mission was to provide something that would reflect the aesthetics of the sleepy beach town and add a modern flair. Grasses in great sweeps that go dormant during the summer create a casual garden feel and is a tribute to California's famous golden hills. The strong geometry, softened by drifts and swaths of grasses, frames the grand view of the ocean. It's not all about the grasses in this garden: weathered steel and succulents make bold statements throughout the garden, complementing their natural counterparts. Salty air and hungry animals (deer, gophers, birds) were a challenge in this garden, but we met these challenges with plants that could stand up to this tough environment, provide year-round beauty with little maintenance, and prevent the erosion that began centuries ago.

Cotati Gateway, Cotati, CA

Left: INTEGRA+ has worked with the City of Cotati on several park, streetscape, and master plan projects and our firm has built a relationship with the Planning Engineering and Public Works Departments that has assisted the city with developing some wonderful projects. We provided landscape architectural services necessary to finalize the federally funded Old Redwood Highway/Highway 116 intersection gateway and streetscape from Highway 101 to Downtown Cotati. The goal was to redesign the entry monuments and landscaping to be a more welcoming and desirable place to walk, sit, and gather, as well as create an identity for the City's main corridor.
The project was a very collaborative and engaging project for the City of Cotati and the community it serves and the end result has identified the entrance to the City.
