Innisfree is a 150-acre public garden of streams, a lake, waterfalls, terraces, retaining walls, rocks and mostly native plants designed in the ancient Chinese landscape mode. Situated in Millbrook, New York, it is said to be one of the greatest ?EUR??,,????'??undiscovered?EUR??,,????'?? garden treasures in the Hudson Valley.

The name ?EUR??,,????'??Innisfree?EUR??,,????'?? derives from the island off the Irish coast made famous by the poet William Butler Yeats. Innisfree was the private home of Walter and Marion Beck from 1930 to 1960. Walter Beck was an American artist inspired by the 8th-century landscape paintings of Wang Wei. Beck coined the term ?EUR??,,????'??cup gardens?EUR??,,????'?? to describe Wei?EUR??,,????'???s landscapes, what today are called garden rooms.

Innisfree opened under the stewardship of landscape architect Lester Collins. Collins integrated the cup gardens with pathways around the lake. Collins?EUR??,,????'??? widow, Petronella, who still lives in a cottage near the lake, became the curator after her husband?EUR??,,????'???s death in 1993.
