Deere & Company sold a majority interest in its landscape supply division, John Deere Landscapes, to the private investment firm of Clayton, Dubilier & Rice. The transaction created a new, freestanding enterprise jointly owned by Deere and CD&R.

 

Monrovia Nursery, with growing operations in Visalia, Calif., Dayton, Ore., and Cairo, Ga., acquired Connecticut-based Imperial Nurseries. The deal will boost Monrovia's total plant production by 15 percent.

Terex Corporation announced that it has agreed to sell its truck business to Volvo Construction Equipment. The deal is expected to be finalized in the second quarter of 2014.

The Plantscape Industry Alliance has changed their name to the Plantscape Institute of America.

Based on the experiences of many of the SITES early pilot projects, a refined set of guidelines and an updated rating system, SITES v2, has been finalized. This enhanced version of the 2009 SITES Rating System incorporates added recommendations from technical experts.
