Fred Buxton, a landscape architect for 52 years, died February 27, 2005, at his home in Houston, Texas. After graduating with a bachelor's degree in landscape architecture from Texas A&M University in 1950, he founded Fred Buxton & Associates in 1956 and won several awards over the years for his innovative work in Houston and the Texas area. He was responsible for all of the landscape architecture and the schematic design of the master plan for Texas A&M Research Park, and he designed three major plazas for the University of Houston, among other great achievements.
