Fred Buxton, a landscape architect for 52 years, died February 27, 2005, at his home in Houston, Texas. After graduating with a bachelor's degree in landscape architecture from Texas A&M University in 1950, he founded Fred Buxton & Associates in 1956 and won several awards over the years for his innovative work in Houston and the Texas area. He was responsible for all of the landscape architecture and the schematic design of the master plan for Texas A&M Research Park, and he designed three major plazas for the University of Houston, among other great achievements. Buxton was a registered landscape architect in the state of Texas and a member of both the American Society of Landscape Architects and the American Planning Association. In 2002, he joined Knudson & Associates as the senior consultant in landscape architecture. He was known best for his innovative design of water conservation systems. Buxton is survived by his friends and family, including his son, Rick Buxton, who contacted us to share the story of his father's life work.
