Charles Allen Fountain 1918-2000 Dr. Charles Allen Fountain, ASLA, Professor Emeritus of Landscape Architecture and founding father of the Landscape Architecture Program at North Carolina A&T, died on August 26, 2000, at his residence in Greensboro. He earned his Ph.D. from Michigan State University and a master's degree in landscape architecture from the University of Berkeley. In 1989 after more than 25 years of hard work, Dr. Fountain retired and turned over the reigns of leadership to Perry Howard. The program received full accreditation in 1993 and became the first accredited program at an historic black college or university. It is now the only fully accredited undergraduate program in the state of North Carolina. While at North Carolina A&T, he was elected to the highest and most honored positions of leadership by his colleagues. He was also given a special recognition award for outstanding contributions and dedication to the profession of landscape architecture. This fall, the A&T School of Agriculture and Environmental and Allied Sciences will induct him into the Aggie Hall of Fame. Memorial contributions can be directed to the Dr. Charles A.
