More than 25 years ago when IECA was founded, erosion control was a largely-unknown field.


On August 16, 2005, ecologist Elyse Hackett became the 3,000th member of the Erosion Control Association (IECA). The IECA, headquartered in Steamboat Springs, Colo., was founded in 1972 and has members in 52 countries ?EUR??,,????'??I think that increased regulation, as well as several highly-publicized cases of enforcement, have made the builders more aware of the need for erosion control and sediment management,?EUR??,,????'?? said Ben Northcutt, IECA executive director.

The IECA estimates that erosion control is more than a $225 million per year industry in the U.S., with the construction industry accounting for
nearly half of erosion-control product
sales and services.
