Learn about tree identification with Logan House.

LandscapeWebinars.org hosted arborist, Logan House on September 12th for an educational session about how tree naming comes to be, the dichotomous key, and specific tree identifiers.
The session, "Identifying Trees" explored the nomenclature, who names trees for universality, and more.
House explained the scientific families including their class in name and structure to best provide professionalism and consistency.

Webinar Description:
Learn how binomial nomenclature classifies trees and how naming conventions can aid in species identification and tell you more about the species. Learn how to identify common native and installed trees across the southeast. Learn how to "key out" a tree when you don't know where to start.

Learning Objectives:
1. How can botanical names and families aid in tree ID

3. How to use a dichotomous key
Logan House
Logan House is a Board Certified Master Arborist with a degree in forestry and in parks management from the University of Georgia. He has worked in the private tree industry as a sales arborist and manager, for the US Fish and Wildlife Service to create and maintain endangered species habitat, and for the Georgia Forestry Commission to aid in the adoption and creation of tree ordinances and tree maintenance plans. Logan is currently the President of the Georgia Arborist Association, a local chapter of the ISA.
