IALD Recognizes 23 Lighting Design Projects

The Crown Fountain lighting design highlights faces of Chicagoans whose pursed mouths fountain water into a shallow reflecting pool, while the design for the Morongo Casino Resort and Spa creates a nighttime oasis in the desert.

The International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD) awarded 23 projects from 8 countries of which seven were Awards of Excellence. Among these was the Award of Excellence given to the lighting design for the Crown Fountain in Millennium Park in Chicago. The award was accepted by principal lighting designer Jim Baney of Schuyler Shook, Chicago, Ill.. Established in 1983 the event honors lighting projects that display high aesthetic achievement backed by technical expertise. Among the winners of the Awards of Merit in the retail/entertainment category was the Morongo Casino Resort and Spa, designed by Visual Terrain of Van Nuys, CA. The principal lighting designer, Dawn Hollingsworth, was inspired by the picturesque desert landscape and went on to create a nighttime oasis. For more information visit www.iald.org.
