IA to Join Green Building Council

 

Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design has an accreditation program

The Irrigation Association Board of Directors voted to join the U.S. Green Building Council. The IA will join under the council's new non-profit status. The Green Building Council promotes environmentally responsible, profitable and healthy places to work through its Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design accreditation program, known as LEED. The IA hopes to help make the LEED point system friendlier to efficient irrigation. The program currently rewards eliminating irrigation.
