Nordrain is a modular sub-soil drainage system made out of polyethylene that provides superior drainage through vast void areas, extremely fast flow rates combined with superb compressive strength. Only one inch high, Nordrain provides a standard for horizontal applications in roof-top gardens, podiums, planters and other landscape applications on slab.

Introduced to the United States market by Vespro, Inc., a root barrier manufacturing company, this bi-planar construction ensures even distribution of weight that will not collapse, rot or distort-- and will withstand mechanical stress far exceeding various sheet products on the market that were originally designed for vertical applications.

Landscape Architects are just learning to appreciate the horizontal applications of this material, because sheet products often have double-sided cusperations, which when employed horizontally, allows water to remain in the top layer only; lateral flow will only occur once these cuspations are full. This process has a somewhat retarding affect on the flow that can result in deluge solutions. Moreover, when subjected to saturated soil weight, the membrane can collapse into the cuspations, rendering the void ineffective.

Over the past three years, more than one million square feet of this sub-soil drainage system has been successfully installed in Australia, Asia and the Middle East.
