HRI 2021 Funded Research Projects

Four Areas of Focus

The Horticultural Research Institute, the AmericanHort Foundation, states they support scientific research and students for the advancement of the horticulture industry.

The Horticultural Research Institute (HRI) has announced their selection of research projects they will award funds to in 2021. The projects are focused on four key areas with a total of $364,000 awarded, and range from greenhouse innovations to the effects of COVID-19 on industry consumers.

"Investing in diverse, high-quality research is our mission," said Jennifer Gray, HRI Administrator. "The 2021 projects selected from a competitive batch of grant applications represent all facets of the industry and touch each of HRI's four strategic research priorities."

HRI's mission is to direct, fund, promote, and communicate horticulture research and has awarded more than $7.5 million in funds to projects important to the green industry. According to the organization, research funding is prioritized to four areas of focus that will best assist industry profitability: Quantifying Plant Benefits, Creating Innovative Solutions, Gathering Consumer Insights, and Producing Practical & Actionable Solutions.
