Privately-owned housing completions in March were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 656,000. This is 3.1 percent (???????(R)???????+???????(R)??????oe???????(R)???????+???????(R)????????16.7 percent) below the revised February estimate of 677,000 and is 21.2 percent (???????(R)???????+???????(R)??????oe???????(R)???????+???????(R)????????8.9 percent) below the March 2009 rate of 833,000.
This could be due in part to the East Coast?EUR??,,????'?????<???????????????????????(R)?EUR??,,????'????s severe winter, which just concluded. The good news is that with building permits and housing starts on the rise, housing completions will increase toward the end of the year.
During the past year the South fared the best of all regions, although it saw an overall decrease of housing completions at 17.1 percent with a decrease of 0.8 percent for single units. The Midwest fared the worst with an overall decrease of 28.9 percent and decrease of 24.8 percent for single units. – Courtesy of Economics and Statistics Administration
