HR 2847, the Jobs for Main Street Act of 2010 bill redirects $75 billion from Wall Street to Main Street. This includes $37 billion dollars for transportation projects that will put Americans back to work across the country. The bill directs $27.5 billion of transportation’s share into highway infrastructure projects, $8.4 billion into public transportation, including $6.1 billion for urban and rural formula grants. This is welcomed news for contractors seeking jobs with landscape improvements.

House approval of the bill, on a vote of 217-212, came two weeks after AASHTO identified more than 9,500 highway, bridge, transit, rail, port, aviation and intermodal projects worth $70 billion.
