Earth moving is a dirty business, but fun! And, there are lots of different ways to move the earth. From tractors to loaders, to shovels to backhoes, a landscape contractor has to be familiar with all the tools of the trade - tools that are constantly being upgraded and changed. Many landscape contractors seek versatile equipment designed for a variety of jobs, rather than equipment that delivers only one application. While there is a place for the specialized machine, there is also a place for the multipurpose unit. The Allmand TLB-425 First, let's take a look at the multipurpose Allmand TLB-425 heavy-duty compact tractor loader backhoe. This is a piece of machinery ready to move the earth. It is powered by a 25-horsepower Kubota D1105 diesel engine with a 65-horsepower hydrostatic transmission that boasts a servo-control feature to allow greater operator control over the machine. The loader bucket is made to fulfill just about any application. It has a maximum lift capacity of 2,100 pounds and 3,400 breakout force. The maximum loading height for the loader is 90 inches, an impressive reach for a compact tractor. The unit also has a load sensing hydraulic steering system for hydraulic flow that activates when the operator is turning the steering wheel. There is also a high-capacity hydraulic oil cooler to help extend the life of the hydraulic components. The backhoe features oversized polished pins with replaceable composite bearings and urethane lip seals in all working joints. What's this mean? According to Allmand, this design greatly reduces friction and extends service intervals by eliminating metal-to-metal contact, retaining grease levels and keeping out debris. For further safety, there is a heavy-duty boom lock that can be engaged or disengaged from the operator's seat. To learn more about Allmand, go to www.allmand.com. Power House Power House Equipment offers two unique units that fall into the earth moving category. One is the mid-size Powerhouse Prowler; the other is the heavy-duty ASV RC-30. The Prowler is a 24-horsepower unit designed for landscape contractors, rental outlets, mobile home installers, general contractors, golf courses, utility companies, and contractors. It has an expandable rubber track undercarriage that provides access through a 36-inch opening, but expands to 42 inches, offering a wide platform for stability. It is made to power all standard compact utility loader attachments. The ASV RC-30 is a 31.5 horsepower unit designed for commercial landscapers, general contractors and utility contractors. It is compact enough to fit into tight spaces, but offers the power to handle larger jobs. As with the Prowler, it also powers standard compact utility loader attachments: buckets, pallet forks or power tools like augers, rakes and more. There is also an attachment plate available so that most Dingo attachments can be used with the RC??30. For more information about Power House, visit: www.powerhouseequipment.com.
