There are a multitude of leaf blowers to choose from: electric, gas powered and walk-behinds. However, since this is the Horsepower department, we are only going to look at those blowers with actual horsepower?EUR"the walk-behinds. MacKissic and Little Wonder offer similar models, each with enough power and differences to make them intriguing. The World of Little Wonders The walk-behind models from Little Wonder aren?EUR(TM)t just for a yard full of leaves. They are built to take on debris and standing water, too. Additionally, the blowers allow for a controlled blast that is suited for preparing asphalt and flat roofs for resurfacing. Blow by blow features: aerodynamic impeller with inclined blades to increase air output; height adjustable handles with anti-vibration grip; three pneumatic tires for maneuverability; optional swivel kit that allows for steering on turf or pavement without having to lift the front end. Horsepower: Little Wonder walk-behinds range in horsepower from 6 HP to 13 HP. The 6 HP is meant for an average size lawn and residential lots. The 6, 8 and 10 HP models have a Briggs engine, while the 8 and 13 HP models carry Honda engines and can even remove standing water and prepare asphalt for resurfacing. When shopping for a blower, Little Wonder recommends asking the following questions when considering the size and power of a blower: 1. How many deciduous trees are on the property? 2. What size are the leaves? 3. How far do you need to blow leaves? 4. How hilly is the property? For more information visit Little Wonder: www.littlewonder.com. The Mighty MacKissic The MacKissic walk-behind model targeted for the landscape contractor is the Mighty Mac. This machine boasts all-terrain accessibility with the power to move mountains of leaves and debris. According to MacKissic, its design allows for easy rolling on flat ground, uphill, downhill or on a hillside. Blow by blow features: a balanced, high-speed impeller creates up to a 200 mph gale; aerodynamically designed housing for smooth air flow; adjustable deflector with kickable handle to divert air up, down, forward or sideways; optional electronic start; two position wheel adjustment; and a swiveling pneumatic front wheel for easy maneuverability. Horsepower: MacKissic has blowers ranging from 3.5 to 11 HP. The 9 HP model has a Honda engine, while the others have Briggs & Stratton engines.
