A new 24-hour cable Home & Garden Television Network (HGTV) will be launched in December 1994. The Knoxville-based network's line-up will feature 75% new programming. A weekly series devoted to landscape design and construction, Breaking Ground, specifically aims to demystify the process of reshaping the home landscape environment by addressing "keystones" of design and construction plus environmentally responsible strategies.

Breaking Ground's Creative Director/Producer Richard Gonci said the creators have recognized from the start that they must attract viewers who would otherwise not hire a Landscape Architect. So, they emphasize "practical learning" and "entertainment values." Importantly, Gonci said the series will show "credentialled" professionals as they interface with clients and contractors to "acquaint or reinforce the idea that such projects are best undertaken by Landscape Architects."

As the only organization to co-produce an HGTV show, the Concannon Group maintains control over advertising and can therefore provide national and local media. Information is available from the Concannon Group by calling (617) 451-5930.
