New report released

The Home Depot, which was recently named one of the top 10 most admired companies by Fortune magazine, reported net earnings of $838 million for the second quarter of fiscal 2000, up 23% from net earnings of $679 million in the second quarter of fiscal 1999.

"The momentum continues at Home Depot," said Arthur M. Blank, President and CEO. "New business initiatives such as our pro program and our entry into the major appliance arena are creating excitment in Home Depot stores even as we prepare to launch e-commerce on our website and accelerate expansion of our successful EXPO Design Centers."

Blank also attributes the success of the company to his 226,000 Home Depot associates.
