The Lewis house, situated on the east bank of the Pawcatuck River, was built in the late 1600 to early 1700s, but Register officials say it was restored in the early 1900s. The landscape was designed in the 1930s by landscape architect Arthur Shurcliff.

The National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) has placed the Lewis-Card-Perry house in Westerly, Rhode Island on its list. The home is considered a significant piece of colonial history.

Sarah and Harvey Perry have had “stewardship” of the house and property for the last 30 years and are currently renovating the home. Water damage has rotted sills and wood.

The 1.5-story, five-room home is built on a stone foundation. The roof sports red cedar shingles and there is a large stone center chimney. There are 18th-century materials throughout the home, including panel doors, iron hardware, wooden latches with leather drawstrings and wide-board floors.

The setting and landscape were designed in the Colonial Revival mode.

NRHP is the official list of cultural U.S. resources deemed worthy of preservation. NRHP is administered by the National Park Service and authorized under the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966.
