HensonFoley Firm Buys O'Doherty Group




The U.S. Naval Academy Armel-Leftwich Visitor Center and Promenade project, Annapolis, Md., landscape architecture by the O?EUR??,,????'?????<

Owner's Jay Henson and Tim Foley of HensonFoley P.C. www.hensondesigninc.com, a landscape architecture and civil engineering firm based in Charlotte, N.C., has purchased Annapolis-based O'Doherty Group Landscape Architecture. Jay Henson founded the firm in May 2000.

The O'Doherty Group (OGLA) will retain its name. The firm’s founder, Pearse O'Doherty, will stay on staff. Terms of the sale were not released.

The O'Doherty Group was one of the “Firms of the Beltway” featured in our Sept. ASLA Show Issue (p. 75-76).
Pearse O'Doherty, who has worked in Annapolis since 1984, established O'Doherty Group Landscape Architecture in 2001 to provide a full range of landscape architectural services. Pearse began his career in San Francisco working for Garrett Eckbo.

OGLA projects include the Maryland Zoo in Baltimore, the Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, the U.S. Naval Academy Armel-Leftwich Visitor Center and Promenade, Annapolis, Md., Acton’s Landing in Annapolis, historic court square in Charlottesville, Va., the Maryland State Capitol grounds and the University of Maryland’s schools of law and social work, just to name a few.

The work of HensonFoley includes mixed-use development, retail, recreation, campus, office complexes, residential neighborhoods, churches, industrial facilities, hotels, urban renovation, civic projects and plazas.
