The 2014 LASN Specifier's Guide and the LC/DBM Buyer's Guide, which will be released in May, are asking landscape professionals for help with finding independent wholesalers in local markets.

Landscape Contractor / Design Build Maintain magazine and Landscape Architect and Specifier News magazine will once again publish annual guides to assist buyers and specifiers with their purchasing decisions throughout the year.

Besides detailing different products by category, the guides feature lists of local suppliers to the industry. The lists traditionally include the well-known suppliers and some independents, but this year in an effort to bolster the lists with more independent wholesalers, the company that publishes the guides is reaching out to landscape professionals across the country.

"We already know about the big guys," says Mike Dahl, the editor of Landscape Contractor, Design/Build/Maintain. "We also want to know about the local guys to help them, which will help the industry."

There is no charge for being included on the list, because as Dahl says, "We view this a service to the 200,000 landscape professionals who read the publications."

Landscape Communications is asking landscape professionals to submit their favorite independent suppliers in four different categories:

• Large power equipment

• General supplies - irrigation products, chemicals, smaller equipment, etc.

• Boxed trees, B and B trees and turf

• Bricks, blocks, pavers, etc.

To do so, those who want to submit can click on this link and provide the requested information. Landscape Communications will not use the information to solicit the submitted companies or the companies that submit.

The guides are scheduled to be mailed in early May, but the deadline for submissions is April 8.
