The Philadelphia Phillies’ former long-time groundskeeper has filed an age discrimination suit against the team.
Mark “Frog” Carfagno, recently sued the Phillies (ironically, on his 53rd birthday), saying he worked with the team for 33 years but was demoted and eventually replaced after the club moved into its new stadium.
The suit claims he was succeeded in 2004 by a 29-year-old who consistently degraded him because of age, the Philadelphia Inquirer said.
Carfagno said in the suit that while on leave, being treated for anxiety and depression, he was advised by letter that his absence was considered a resignation.
