First announced in June of 2017 as a definitive agreement, Deere & Company recently completed its acquisition of the Wirtgen Group, a leading manufacturer worldwide of heavy equipment for the construction industry. With a product portfolio that is complementary to the buyer's existing offerings, including machines for mixing, compaction and paving, the new acquisition will enhance Deere's size and scale in the construction equipment business.
Looking for ways to better serve customers, Husqvarna Group, a manufacturer of outdoor power equipment, broke ground on a new 350,300-square-foot distribution center and warehouse designed primarily for warehouse, staging, and storage. The finished facility, projected to open at the end of this year, will be next to the manufacturing plant in Nashville Arkansas, where a variety of equipment is made for the company's different brands. This will allow more efficient distribution from the plant to the warehouse, and from the warehouse to the customer.
As revealed a year ago, Epiroc AB, a subsidiary of Atlas Copco Group, which manufactures equipment for a wide range of markets including construction, has begun to operate under its own brand name. The new company will be in charge of the division that makes hydraulic attachments such as excavator grapples, breakers, cutters and augers for its parent company, who will remain so until stockholders' approval in April 2018.
