Greenfield Village Receives THEA Award

Grissim Metz Andriese Associates, Site Master Planners, Designers

New landscaping, fencing and pavers enhance the area around the Lorange Gristmill at Greenfield Village. The stone for the bridge was quarried in Wisconsin; stonework around the mill is native Michigan granite. The oak water wheel was designed by John Picha, PE.

DEARBORN, Mich.-In the March 2004 issue, LASN featured the design work of Grissim Metz Andriese Associates, Inc., at Greenfield Village, the ?EUR??,,????'??Smithsonian of the Midwest,?EUR??,,????'?? 90 acres of Henry Ford's vision, featuring the Henry Ford Museum, the Benson Ford Research Center, the Ford Rough Factory, and a village of historic buildings, workshops, stores and farms.

The Northville, Michigan landscape architects have been honored with the THEA award from the Themed Entertainment Association (TEA), recognizing their revitalization of one of the country's premier destinations and preserving Henry Ford collection of Americana. The award was in the ?EUR??,,????'??Extreme Makeover?EUR??,,????'?? category for excellence in ?EUR??,,????'??reinventing this American classic.?EUR??,,????'??

The award cites the master planning team of Grissim Metz Andriese, working in conjunction with JGA Inc. of Southfield, Michigan for themed retail design, and ARCADIS of Southfield, Michigan for infrastructure design and construction documents, as well as Michigan's Heavy Construction Association and Walbridge Aldinger Co., co-construction manager.

Other recipients of this year's THEA awards included Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando, and the National Constitution Center, among internationally notable destinations.
