Greenbuild Expo Goes International for 2011

Greenbuild NEXT will be the first time the U.S. Green Building Council is hosting Greenbuild outside the United States. Greenbuild 2011, in Toronto Oct. 4-7, celebrates what's NEXT for green building. Greenbuild features the world's largest expo hall devoted to green building.

The opening keynote will feature a panel discussion featuring New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman, ABC News political commentator Cokie Roberts, former Prime Minister of Canada Kim Campbell, medical anthropologist and physician Dr. Paul Farmer and USGBC President & CEO Rick Fedrizzi to tackle building resiliency at Greenbuild Opening Plenary. After the panel discussion, attendees will be treated to a concert by the band Maroon 5.

Numerous education sessions, LEED workshops, tours and special events are planned for Greenbuild 2011. Greenbuild education sessions are eligible for continuing education credits for a number of professional credentials and organizations.

Tours will also be a part of Greenbuild 2011. Toronto's Green buildings, from renovated warehouses to top of the line skyscrapers will be highlighted as well as Canada's sustainable wineries in Niagara and the future of healthcare facilities can be seen on these tours. Half-day tours will be held on Oct. 7 from 1:30-5:30 p.m. Full day tours take place on Oct. 8 from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
