Green Roof Conference Set to Grow Ideas

Green roofs are becoming a popular way to increase green space while still allowing for development to take place. They also serve as excellent building insulation.

The present and future of green roofs will be examined and deliberated at the 3rd International Green Roof Congress, which will be held in Hamburg, Germany on May 13th through the 15th.

The conference, which is sponsored by the International Green Roof Association, is being billed as a cross profession information exchange for this burgeoning field of landscape and architecture technology. The show's producers promise to bring together some of the world???(R)???AE???(R)'?N??s most innovative architects and sustainability experts to discuss the industry issues and outlooks and showcase visionary green roof projects that integrate nature and architecture.

The conference is targeting professionals involved with green roofs and other sustainable architectural technology such as living walls who wish to learn about the latest advancements in these areas. This includes architects, landscape architects, planners, representatives of local authorities and environmental agencies, investors, manufacturers and installers.

Subjects set for discussion and analysis include sustainable urban development projects with green roofs, urban waterscapes, rainwater in urban planning, fa?????ade greening, construction site management of green roof projects, technological and ecological performance of green roofs, stormwater management plans, vertical greenery, and intelligent cities.

Also scheduled are interactive workshops and various excursions to see extraordinary examples of green roof architecture and to visit the International Garden Show and the International Building Exhibition, which are taking place at the same time in Hamburg. Advertised as a special highlight of the program is the panel discussion titled, Building with Nature, a question and answer session with industry experts complimented by two hands-on workshops.

The conference will be held at the Empire Riverside Hotel in Hamburg, which according to the show's sponsors is in the heart of Europe's largest urban development project, the waterside HafenCity.
