Grant & Power Landscaping, Inc. Celebrates 30th

Grant & Power Landscaping, Inc. of West Chicago is a full-service residential and commercial design/build company.

In January 1978, Grant & Power Landscaping, Inc. entered the residential landscape maintenance market in Chicago in a small way—with only a two-man crew. The firm has evolved into a design/build firm with over 100 employees. [Editor’s note: See an example of Grant & Power’s work on p. 108 in April’s LASN, the “Home and Garden” lighting feature.]

Gene Grant Jr., RLA, is the company founder and CEO. Mr. Grant says it’s rewarding to build an organization and he enjoys seeing his team’s young people develop into leaders. When it comes to design styles, he is partial to the English garden.

Jan-Gerrit Bouwman, ASLA, is the firm’s senior landscape architect and partner. A native of the Netherlands, he earned a master’s in landscape architecture, plant ecology and vegetation science at the University of Wageningen in his homeland.

Grant & Power was honored by the Illinois Landscape Contractors Association with design awards in 2006, a Gold, and a Silver in 2007.
