ICD Corporation has received three United States trademark registrations for the design and look of the company's new retaining wall system.

MILWAUKEE-ICD Corporation has announced that it has received three United States trademark registrations ((r)) for the design and look of the company's StoneWall(r) SELECT(r) retaining wall system and its component blocks.

The StoneWall SELECT system is made up of stackable, mortarless concrete blocks used for construction of retaining walls in residential, commercial and governmental applications.

According to ICD president Robert W. Dean, Jr., the registrations acknowledge the unique appearance of the StoneWall SELECT split-faced, offset concrete blocks, with a rough surface texture, as well as the unique appearance of a completed wall using these blocks. Dean went on to explain that in applying for registration of its trademarked appearance, ICD wanted to prevent others from copying the look of its blocks and walls, whether intentionally or inadvertently, thereby avoiding confusion in the marketplace about whose product was being used.

The trademarks are based on the look of the front surface of concrete blocks with an off-set, split-face surface where approximately 1/3 of the surface is raised in front of the rest of the front surface.
