When Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter signed the state?EUR??,,????'???s landscape architecture licensure law on May 30, 2007, it established a regulatory authority (a board) within the Division of Registrations, Department of Regulatory Agencies. On August 29, 2007, the governor appointed the following people to the five-member Board of Landscape Architects: Jennifer D. Staroska-McCoy of Denver, for a term expiring Aug. 4, 2009. Ms. Staroska has a BLA from Michigan State University (2000) and specialized in environmental studies. Her project experience includes site master planning, parks & rec planning, design and administration, urban site design and energy facility permitting & design. James F. Ramos of Lafayette, for a term expiring Aug. 4, 2010. Mr. Ramos has a BLA from Iowa State University. He joined Nuszer Kopatz in 2000 and is now a partner and principal-in-charge of the landscape architecture studio. The Metro Denver Homebuilder Association has named Idyllwilde ?EUR??,,????'??Community of the Year?EUR??,,????'?? for the second consecutive year, one of the many successful communities that he has managed. Todd Williams of Morrison, for a term expiring Aug. 4, 2010. Mr. Williams has a B.S. in range ecology from Colorado State University (1981) and 24 years of experience in the environmental contracting industry. In 1985, he established the landscape maintenance division for American Civil Constructors (ACC). He is vice president for landscape services for ACC. Ted J. Ciavonne of Grand Junction, for a term expiring Aug. 4, 2011. Mr. Ciavonne started Ciavonne & Associates in 1982. His is the recipient of the ASLA ?EUR??,,????'??Outstanding Service Award.?EUR??,,????'?? Heather E. Jones of Denver, for a term expiring Aug. 4, 2010. Ms. Jones received her law degree from the University of Colorado School of Law in Boulder in 1997 and was admitted to the bar the same year. Her B.A. is in political science from Colorado State University, Fort Collins. She owns and operates Clifton Jones Development, LLC in Denver, a land development company. Charlie Adams is the newly appointed program director for the Colorado State Board of Landscape Architecture. In an email sent to Colorado landscape architects and posted on the Colorado ASLA website, Mr. Adams stated: ?EUR??,,????'??We are working hard here at the Department of Regulatory Agencies to get the details sorted out in setting up this new licensing board program. ?EUR??,,????'??? I have been working with a group of individuals from the landscape architecture industry here in Colorado in getting a draft set of rules prepared for the Board once they are appointed and have their first meeting. Hopefully, that will be soon so that we can set things in motion for the formal rulemaking process.?EUR??,,????'?? Mr. Adams also noted a website for the Colo. Board of Landscape Architecture will soon be up and applications for licensure will be posted to the web page. Mr. Adams added he is working with CLARB to make the exam process similar to that of other states. Colorado?EUR??,,????'???s licensure law goes into effect on Jan. 1, 2008.
