Gordon is an award-winning design firm providing civil engineering, landscape architecture, land surveying, land planning, and physical site security design to a broad spectrum of market sectors and clients. Established in 1976 by Hank Gordon, the firm quickly gained a reputation as a leader in site design and infrastructure throughout Northern Virginia. Today, the team is spread across two offices with five landscape architects and over 100 employees. What makes Gordon unique is the way they practice in both the public and private market sectors. Gordon has a proven track record of working with federal and state agencies as well as numerous local municipalities, K-12 schools and higher education schools. Their private sector work includes a vast land development portfolio comprised of large mixed-use campuses, data centers, residential subdivisions, multi-family developments, retail, and industrial projects.

The Point at Ridgeline,
Herndon, Virginia


A: In the heart of western Fairfax County, The Point at Ridgeline is a striking, five-story, 295-unit, multi-family building that seamlessly integrates into its urban context. The design thoughtfully navigated the constraints of its unique suburban-turned-urban setting by incorporating an array of outdoor parks and amenity spaces to foster an ideal living environment. From scenic trails and outdoor fitness areas to chess tables, an amphitheater, a swimming pool, and even a bocce court, every detail was crafted with a distinctive, modern, rustic, urban design language. This not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also enriches the residents' experience, blending functionality with charm in this vibrant
community space.

Capital One Block B, McLean, Virginia

B: Since the 1990s, Gordon has been a key partner in shaping the development of Capital One's 26-acre campus. Block B in this prominent corporate campus, adjacent to the new Tysons metro station, showcases best-in-class landscape architectural design for mixed-use development. The design established streetscape and recreational standards, incorporating Low-Impact Development features like rain gardens and bioretention facilities as well as planning for future right-of-way expansions. Additional features include intimate garden rooms, community gathering spaces, and art installations to activate and enhance the park environment.

Woodland Community Sports Park, Fairfax, VA

C: Nestled between bustling office and residential buildings, Woodland Community Sports Park was envisioned as a vibrant space designed to cater to various age groups throughout the week. The design includes a versatile synthetic turf field for wiffle ball and kickball, a multi-purpose court for futsal and basketball, and facilities for racquetball, tennis, bocce, and cornhole. Additional features - like a playground, cozy seating areas, and picnic spots - ensure that there's something for everyone, making this park a lively hub for community activity.

The Heights School, Arlington, Virginia

D: The new Heights School site has brought fresh energy to Arlington Public Schools, merging two academic programs into a state-of-the-art facility. This exciting project has not only redefined education spaces but also enriched the surrounding community with a range of thoughtful features. The campus includes an inviting outdoor recreation field and four roof terraces, each offering a unique outdoor retreat for both play and learning. An innovative, multi-faceted stormwater management system integrates environmental responsibility into the design, incorporating vegetation into the landscaping that is all native to the D.C. area.
