GCM recognized as ENR Southeast Design Firm of the Year
Goodwyn Mills Cawood (GMC) was named the ENR Southeast 2024 Design Firm of the Year following more than a 30% increase in revenue from the previous year - a reward of high-profile projects and expansion of the firm's footprint - all while maintaining a high caliber of work and commitment to feeling local in the communities they serve. Jane Reed Ross named to ASLA Fellows
This year, ASLA elevated 40 members as ASLA Fellows for their exceptional contributions to the landscape architecture profession and society at large, with GMC's own Jane Reed Ross as one of them. Over her 40+ years practicing landscape architecture, Jane has become a household name in the field in the Southeast. She is a trailblazer in the innovation of vibrant greenspaces and connecting those spaces in a way that enhances active lifestyles. She has worked with Tom Leader, FASLA, on Railroad Park and designed some of the most beloved public and private outdoor spaces in the Magic City and beyond, including Rotary Trail, the Birmingham Zoo, Homewood's Central Park, Shades Creek Greenway and more. Many of her projects have received ASLA design awards, including an Honor Award for the Red Rock Trail Master Plan for Jefferson County, Alabama.

Montgomery Whitewater named one of TIME's 2024 Greatest Places
Montgomery Whitewater - one of just three venues of its kind in the United States - was named one of TIME Magazine's World's Greatest Places to Visit of 2024. The whitewater park has quickly become a well-renowned facility since its opening in 2023, and it even hosted the U.S. Olympic Canoe Slalom and Kayak Cross Team Trials last April. From the adrenaline-pumping competition channel to a more approachable creek channel for recreational paddling, Montgomery Whitewater provides enjoyment for all ages and skill levels. GMC provided civil engineering, surveying, landscape architecture, environmental, geotechnical engineering, electrical engineering and transportation engineering services for the project. Our team worked alongside S2O Design & Engineering, JESCO Construction, Inc., W S Newell & Sons, Inc., Russell Construction of Alabama, Inc., and Liquid Design, in addition to our cooperative partners - the City of Montgomery, Montgomery County, and Poarch Band of Creek Indians.

Chamblee City Hall awarded ASLA Award
Chamblee City Hall serves as the centerpiece for the City of Chamblee, Georgia's developing downtown master plan. A beacon for the community that evokes a sense of historical significance and pride, GMC received an Honor Award in General Design from the ASLA Alabama Chapter for the project. The city hall and surrounding site are welcoming and inviting with a variety of open green spaces that promote public engagement and activity, allowing the city to host concerts and events for its citizens. A contrast in the green turf and steel walls creates a visually compelling space to occupy and complement the building's brick and wood accents. GMC provided landscape architecture, architecture, and civil engineering. Other project partners include NBP Engineers as mechanical and electrical, PES Structural Engineers as structural, and Reeves Young as the general contractor.
