Georgia Governor to Sign Water Conservation Measures

Because of severe water shortages, landscapers will not be able to water from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. after Georgia governor Perdue signs water legislation. Lake Lanier, the reservoir at the heart of the three-state dispute is at record lows.

Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue is expected to sign new water conservation rules meant to help him reach a deal with Alabama and Florida that will prevent metro Atlanta from losing much of its water.

The new rules would ban most outdoor watering from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. New buildings would need high-efficiency toilets, showerheads and faucets.
