The Georgia Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects has announced its 2011-12 executive committee. Scott Jones is the new president of the committee. In a personal note to chapter members, Jones said his focus on ASLA-related matters has recently increased. ''I became immersed in all-things-ASLA over the past year while trying to keep up with our out-going president, Brandon White,'' he said. ''During his tenure Brandon has proven that a recession does not mean the end of our profession. Evidence of this is the very successful Tri-State Conference hosted this year by our chapter. This mini-national conference included noteworthy guest speakers from around the country, delegates from National Headquarters, an awards banquet, seminars, and advanced educational opportunities.'' Jones continued, ''Our 2011/2012 goals will focus on increasing advocacy and awareness about our profession, maintaining and increasing membership, providing stewardship to young graduates, connecting membership to career opportunities, legislation, legal defense funding for practice legislation, sponsorship, collaboration, and profitability. I am honored to be so personally and professionally connected to ASLA, and especially to the Georgia Chapter.''
