GCSAA Watson Fellowship Program





The GCSAA, a leading golf course management association, calls for applicants for the Watson Fellowship Program.


The Golf Course Superintendents Association of America calls for future educators and researchers in the turf industry to apply for the Dr. James Watson Fellowship Program, which has been funded by the Toro Company.

These awards provide financial assistance for the future educators and researchers of the turfgrass industry. Up to three $5,000 fellowships are awarded each year. Applicants must be candidates for masters or doctoral degrees in fields related to golf course management. The deadline to submit an application is October 1.

The goal of the Watson Fellowship Program is to identify and recognize outstanding post-graduates who will be leading industry educators and researchers of tomorrow.

The Watson Fellowship Selection Committee evaluates each applicant on:
  • Academic excellence
  • Peer recommendations
  • Communication skills
  • Commitment to a career as an instructor and/or scientist
  • Accomplishments in research and education
  • Potential to contribute significantly to the industry
