The Golf Course Superintendents Association of America (GCSAA) hosts a webcast program that is free to its members. Rhett Evans, Chief Executive Officer said, ''Without a doubt, education is the most sought-after program we conduct. To provide it free of charge to members through these webcasts is of great value to them and their facilities.'' This ongoing program will also provide attendees with the opportunity to earn education points.
Syngenta, a global specialized chemical company is also in support of the webcast program. Course Description: Developed by the United States Golf Association for use at USGA Championships, TruFirm is a system that lets the golf course superintendent measure and analyze the firmness of turf and bunker sands over the course of a tournament, the playing season and for many years. Maintaining the desired firmness for important turf areas depends on managing water usage and controlling the buildup of organic matter. TruFirm gives the superintendent an objective measure of turf firmness to aid in irrigation and maintenance decisions.

Strategies & Planning for Fall Weed Control July 19th 10 am (CST)

Course Description: Fall weed control programs are often overlooked by fatigued superintendents fighting to maintain turf quality during stressful summer weather. Jim Brosnan, Ph.D., will present integrated fall weed control strategies for control of troublesome weeds such as annual bluegrass, dallisgrass and common bermudagrass in both warm- and cool-season turf. Programs will be centered on the use of both new and existing herbicide chemistries along with cultural practices to maximize efficacy. Particular focus will be placed on the use of meteorological data to optimally time herbicide applications.
