Garden Grove residents will able to install artificial turf following a recent vote of the City Council members. The 4-1 vote changed the municipal ordinance to allow artificial turf in single family homes provided it’s aesthetically pleasing and live plants are also included. The vote was quick with on comments from community or council members.
The Council had initially sent the issue to the Planning Commission requesting they look into the environmental impact of artificial turf. The ordinance change was unanimously recommended on February 19th. An additional suggestion was that do-it-yourselfers be allowed to install the product on cost grounds.
The change should go into affect next month following another vote by the city council expected to be in favor of a second reading of the modified ordinance.
