GA Contribution Centennial Project Chosen ATLANTA, GA In the spirit of the Centennial Celebration of the American Society of Landscape Architects, the Georgia Chapter (GASLA) has chosen its contribution to the 100 Years-100 Parks Program. The chapter has chosen to renovate the Whitehead Boys and Girls Club Playground, which is located in an inner city neighborhood of Southeast Atlanta. Currently, the playground is adjacent to a four-lane highway, has no vegetation, has neglected equipment and is enclosed by a rusty chain-link fence. The volunteers from GASLA and the Design Club will hold design charettes with the children to teach them about Landscape Architecture while helping them provide design ideas for their new playground. In addition, the project is intended to energize GASLA's membership and encourage youth to consider Landscape Architecture a viable profession.
