Foreclosure Homes Offer Landscape Potential

As foreclosure homes come on the market, the properties will need to be upgraded or have new landscaping installed to make them more appealing to buyers who have a large number of home options. This offers opportunities for landscape contractors.

The top 10 states with the highest foreclosure rate in May were Nevada, Arizona, California, Michigan, Utah, Georgia, Idaho, Florida, Illinois and Colorado.

Nevada led the nation, with one in every 103 households receiving a foreclosure notice in May, 2011.

2 million U.S. homes are already bank-owned and in some stage of foreclosure.

The homes in some stage of foreclosure represent more than three years of housing inventory at the current sales pace.

The pace of bank repossessions slowed in May to 66,879 properties, down 4 percent from April and down 29 percent from May 2010.
