The St. Johns River Water Management District is expected to vote Dec. 9 on irrigation regulations that would aid water conservation efforts.
The district will vote on whether to amend the current rule by limiting irrigation to two days a week from March through November and once a week from November through March. The rule also would give a set irrigation day for homeowners based on addresses, the district said.
The proposed regulations would also limit the use of reclaimed water for the first time. The proposal applies to all water uses not regulated by consumptive use permits.
The proposed regulations include a provision that would allow for additional days of reclaimed water use on a utility-by-utility basis. This is to help municipalities better operate wastewater disposal systems by providing reclaimed water to customers on a more continuous basis.
If the district board backs the proposed regulations, they would go into effect March 8.
