Long Key Habitat Restoration

Long Key Habitat Restoration

The once sterile biological environment at Long Key Habitat Restoration has now become a highly productive system for juvenile fish and invertebrates that serve as a food source for numerous wading birds. This area shows significant impact caused by illegal dumping activities and the net result of an Everglades marsh creation area at the Long Key Habitat Restoration. Utmost care was used to remove the trash and debris without impacting the archaeological resources. The area at Long Key Habitat Restoration was previously infested by Brazilian Pepper species. After eradication of the species, the marsh area was created.

Weston Town Center

Weston Town Center

The Bell Tower is the icon for Weston Town Center. It serves as the terminus of Main Street at the transition point to the pedestrian plaza and lakefront promenade. Miller Legg was responsible for engineering design, planning and landscape architecture on this project. For comfortable pedestrian use of Weston Town Center, large overstory palms and canopy trees were integrated into the design. Several relocated live oaks were used to provide shaded seating and gathering areas throughout.
