Terra Istriana

Terra Istriana

Terra Istriana, Croatia

Terra Istriana is located on 117 hectares along the unspoiled Adriatic Coast of Istria, Croatia. The development is an ambitious yet unique resort project which will include a 120 slip marina, Seaside Village, Lakeside Village, extensive open-space network, activity lake with beaches and water sports, and preserved agricultural areas.

The initial concept was to take cues from the surrounding medieval towns to create an urban fabric which will promote the history and culture of Istria. By using urban forms we were able to create engaging public spaces and preserve much of the existing open space along the coast. This approach enabled us to create a truly one of a kind resort development.

Canin Associates has provided master planning and landscape architectural services for Tradition and has been involved through construction. Throughout the design phase, strong emphasis was placed on enhancing the natural environment. This has been achieved by a strong open-space development program, and extensive landscape enhancement.

Grande Lakes Resort

Grande Lakes Resort

Grande Lakes Resort, Orlando, Fla.

Set amidst 500 acres of lushly landscaped grounds at the headwaters of the Florida Everglades, this project is an extraordinary oasis where stellar recreation is balanced by sophisticated style. The extensive landscaped gardens and the preserved natural environment are a focal point of the hotels, spa, and convention facilities.

The project includes a 1,000 room J.W. Marriott hotel, a 584 room Ritz-Carlton Hotel, a Greg Norman golf course, spa, and meeting facilities. Within this development, Canin Associates, in cooperation with Site Concepts International, was able to create lush gardens, 23,000 square feet of pools, spas, waterfalls, and a lazy river. The landscape architectural detailing of the project was designed to reflect the flora and fauna of Florida.

The project, completed in July, 2003, created a resort property unlike any other in the Orlando area.

Bird International Airport

Bird International Airport

Commerical Complex V.C. Bird International Airport, Antigua

Located on 62 acres adjacent to V.C. Bird International Airport, this development is a unique venture for the Stanford Development Company. It includes high-end retail shops, a theater, meeting facilities, an office complex, the Antigua Athletic Club, a fully-functional cricket pitch with a themed restaurant and local cricket hall of fame, and other resort-style amenities.

In addition to providing an exciting destination for visitors, this development also provides additional long-term parking for the airport.

The project?EUR??,,????'???s design inspiration has been guided by two priorities: to create a unique experience at an international airport that exists nowhere else in the world, while making sure that honest, hardworking Antiguans and Barbudans get a real opportunity to benefit from the construction and ongoing economic activity that will result. By remaining true to these goals, the master plan rejects the idea of traditionally ?EUR??,,????'??themed?EUR??,,????'?? venues and remains focused on enhancing and amplifying the authentic character, charm, and architecture represented in the West Indian lifestyle and cultural heritage.

Principals: Ken Sussman, Chris Brown, David Lesiuk, Sean Simms, and Bill Poulin.

Staff: The firm?EUR??,,????'???s total staff numbers close to 60 design and other support staff.
