A panoramic vista providing a picturesque skyline along the beautiful protected estuaries. A 2500-acre luxury residential community adjacent to the Gulf of Mexico developed its western boundary with a series of high-rise residential complexes to take advantage of the views over natural mangrove estuaries to the Gulf. Overall aerial shows the integrated landscape relationship of the community. JRL, the landscape architect for the entire community, considered the overall siting combined with detail design to integrate the land-uses, the environment and the landscape spaces to create a desirable place to live.
The private gardens above a parking garage; the villa gardens separating the villas and the tower with private gardens; and the major pool area to the far left. A recreational pool and gardens above a parking garage incorporates private garden cabanas. Pelican Bay, a series of high rise residential developments awards from the Florida Chapter of ASLA, American Association of Nurserymen and Florida Nursery Growers and Landscape Association.
A traditional arrival to a Mediterranean influenced design shows residential design, a collage of award winning works. A central atrium garden reflecting the openness of a classic and simplistic home. JRL emphasizes diversity as an important mission in design. A tropical island atmosphere is created by this multi-level natural pool setting. The firm also believes residential design plays a significant role, perhaps is the tap root, in the traditions of the landscape architectural profession. The following demonstrates the firm?EUR??,,????'???s commitment to diversity. The pool set in a lawn terrace serves as the central water feature of a formal garden. This project won a Florida Chapter ASLA award. A modern lap pool, adjacent to a public waterway, offers a cooling environment and a privacy protection for the home.
As shown in this diagram outlining the major components of the enhancement master plan, JRL, the landscape architect for the original planned community, is currently developing an enhancement master plan for the gated community to bring it to current standards. The concept emphasizes the Southwest Florida landscape. A collage of the arrival gateways and roadway preserve relationships. Major enhancement elements incorporate roadways, arrival entrances, pathways and trails, educational preserve sites and greenspace parks, while conveying the design for the selected parks and preserve overlook. The project won awards from the Florida Chapter of ASLA, American Association of Nurserymen, American Planners Association, Florida Nurserymen, Growers and Landscape Association and Native Plant Society. The canoe/kayak park and waterfront social center show the integration with the natural preserves.
A birdseye view of the Tiburon Golf Course delicately carved through the site to conserve the existing pine uplands as the major landscape. The utilization of a mulch under-story is another technique of reducing water consumption, turf and maintenance. JRL, working in close coordination with the Developer (WCI) and the golf course architect (Greg Norman Design), created a beautiful golf landscape that respects all aspects of the traditions of golf design and the environmental demands of conservation and preservation. Aerial photographs depict Tiburon, a Florida native landscape golf course, in its early developmental stage, weaving through the preserves. Substantial use of coquina sand as a groundcover provides a unique golf landscape, conserves water and reduces turf and turf maintenance. It won awards from the Florida Chapter of ASLA and Native Plant Society. Lake banks and littoral shelves are planted with native grasses and groundcovers to prevent erosion, filter run off, define golf hazard lines, create a native landscape and produce a wildlife habitat. Exotics were removed from the native pine uplands to provide a translucent veil protecting the privacy of the golf sanctuary while allowing beautiful residential vistas. A 27-hole resort golf development is delicately woven through two major preserves.
The central streetscape plaza for a mixed use complex linking the downtown district to the northern expansion corridor of the Naples downtown district, urban design. Aerial photos of a central mixed use destination center show a linear park along its frontage linking it to the downtown district in all directions. The major public green space, a village square concept covering two acres, providing for the dynamic interaction of urban activities. An overall plan view of the marina resort serves as an anchor destination at the eastern end of the downtown district. JRL is currently working on three major downtown developments that are positioned to change the Olde Naples Landscape by providing cohesive links, destination places and a pedestrian friendly downtown district. A public gathering place integrates the waterfront setting of Naples Bay and the Gordon River.
