The multi-disciplined approach of our design team is dedicated to the creation of designs that are aesthetically pleasing, highly functional, safe and comfortable for the user, and most importantly, economically feasible for their clients. Good management and design freedom allows for free exchange of ideas and creative solutions. Strengthened by the firm?EUR??,,????'???s years of technical and practical experience, each job receives the close attention required to develop memorable environments.
Foster Conant & Associates was established in 1967 by the recently deceased Bert T. Foster. Mr. Foster was the son of the late Mulford Foster who was a major force in designing many of Orlando?EUR??,,????'???s residential neighborhoods and community parks during the early 1900s. In 1973, Richard Conant, who helped grow the firm into what it is today, joined Mr. Foster.
Over the last 35 years the firm has adapted to both economic and market needs. With a primary focus on resort, hospitality, and entertainment projects, Orlando has provided unprecedented challenges to meet thematic and visual needs of the tourist community. Landscape architecture continues to play a major role in this area of practice, which caters to providing a sense of fantasy and whimsy experiences for visitors. On the other side, the vibrant growing communities of Florida have provided opportunities to provide high quality urban, residential, educational, commercial, and retail projects. This is Universal Studios?EUR??,,????'??? largest hotel venture to date. This 1000 room resort is nestled in the middle of Universal?EUR??,,????'???s two theme parks and is connected via the park?EUR??,,????'???s water way or convenient garden walk. This Bali themed project is home to one of the areas largest pools, complete with beachfront cabanas and secluded spas.
Design: The waterway arrival features a replica Clipper airplane. Simulated rice paddy terraces reinforce the theme.
The client?EUR??,,????'???s program was to develop a venue in which guests could interact with dolphins and other salt and freshwater animals in a tropical island setting. The compact site of eleven acres was located in an area with off-site views that required screening in order to truly immerse the guest in an environment that transformed their arrival to an island paradise adventure. Understanding plant culture and habitat was essential to supporting the theme and enhancing the guest experience.
Design: Fresh water streams flow into a lazy river, which encircles saltwater lagoons. A theme bridge connects areas along the dense flora pathway and simulated vines encircle the bridge railings.
In the development of the garden spaces, FCA played to the French Country theme. The estate was divided into five distinct gardens with framed views from the manor as well as views from the gardens to other areas on and off the property. These highly detailed gardens required intricate documents and full time on site administration to ensure the project met its full potential.
Design: Looking across the estate grounds, a large weeping willow provides the focal point for the north garden. The estate entrance connects the porte coch????+re with a drive that leads back to the motor court. The Italian marble fountain is a replica from a French estate.
This renovation project converted an old US Post Office into the Central Florida Headquarters of the Catholic Diocese. Connecting an existing Cathedral to this adjacent property allowed for a creative solution that utilizes the central space for parking or large even gatherings.
Design: Entrance monumentation helps to complement the historical buildings and the existing Cathedral church. The colorful site plan disguises the adaptive use between the Cathedral Church and the Diocese office. A rooftop garden provides an excluded respite to the Diocese offices.
As the prime consultant, FCA?EUR??,,????'???s responsibilities included architecture, civil engineering, structural, electrical, site lighting, landscape, irrigation, site graphics, and full time construction administration.
Design: The paver design on the main bridge connections was intended to evoke a roadway, with different colored pavers denoting a ?EUR??,,????'??sidewalk?EUR??,,????'?? and a main road. The design lends itself to crowd control when parade floats travel on it. The famous Universal globe fountain was installed with several misters to make it look as though it were surrounded with clouds
