Flight 93 Memorial Plans

On Jan. 22, 2007 more than 125 people attended a Somerset County, Penn. commissioners meeting. Jim Klein, a principal with Lardner-Klein Landscape Architects, showed computer-generated projections of development that may occur in the area leading to a national memorial to United Flight 93 near Shanksville, Penn. The memorial will be competed in 2011.

On Sept. 11, 2001, Flight 93 left Newark, N.J. for San Francisco when it was hijacked. The plan crashed in a field when a group of passengers rushed the cockpit. All 40 passengers and crew perished.
