Vehicles that strike fixed bollards can suffer significant damage, of course, but such mishaps can also damage the concrete.
Coming this fall from Reliance Foundry in Surrey, British Columbia, Canada www.bollards.ca is the addition of flexible bollards to its product lineup. The bollards look like rigid, structural impedances, but bend up to 90 degrees when impacted by a vehicle, and return to an upright position once the vehicle gets back on the street proper.
The company says the flex bollards create clear edges and sightlines for parking and other ?EUR??,,????'?????<????????lower risk locations,?EUR??,,????'?????<???????? e.g., such as guiding traffic (think roundabouts), protecting walls or curbs, keeping cars from parking on sidewalks and pedestrian traffic dividers to offer walkway definition.
Flexible bollards have been used for years on highway and other construction zones or in industrial settings. This new line, however, includes various styling options produced in composite polymers and a wide range of colors, including metallic sheens.
Reflective strips can also be provided to improve visibility of the bollards.
The company asserts that testing has shown the flex bollards ?EUR??,,????'?????<????????easily resist permanent deformation from cars and trucks weighing up to 3,300 pounds.?EUR??,,????'?????<????????
