TOPEKA, Kan. - According to the Kansas State Board of Technical Professions, there are nearly 800 new licensees in the five technical professions in the state. The Board grants initial licenses by examination or reciprocity. Most of these individuals will renew those licenses during the next renewal cycle. For first time renewal there will be an exemption of the continuing education requirement regulation. The licensee marks the exemption on the renewal notice. At the beginning of the next renewal period after the exemption, the licensee will start earning continuing education credit. Any course(s) taken prior to that time will not be accepted for credit. This allows everyone the same length of time to begin continuing education activities.
