Robert E. Truskowski, Inc., founded in 1971, has designed landscape architectural projects from Austria to the Antilles and offers complete landscape architectural design and planning services. The firm specializes in estate, historic and new garden development. Il Palmetto, Palm Beach, Fla.
This historic Palm Beach estate, originally designed by Maurice Fatio, became one of Truskowski’s significant landscape architectural achievements. After years of neglect, the property acquired new ownership and became a “ground-up” renovation. This was one of the last “undivided” Palm Beach estates to be restored. The client required a sophisticated garden. A nearly 65-five foot ficus and a large specimen green buttonwood were saved from demolition and barged down the intercoastals to Il Palmetto. The pool was redesigned, as were all other hardscape features, including terraces, paths and docks.

Beach Palace, Red Sea
Truskowski’s experience in water feature design found realization in a salt-water lagoon and series of salt-water pools that cascade into the Red Sea. Working with a local contractor on this “sanctuary by the sea,” specimen trees that faced the chainsaw were replanted. Truskowski selected every plant, and provided on-site construction management and training for local landscape workers.
